The Rose is a beautiful song about what love is. It’s a great introduction for students to metaphor. Ask students to state a few things that “Love is …”. Then, discuss the definition of a metaphor. Finally, listen to the song and have students note what things the song says love is. Listen again to finish, with the lyrics to follow along.
